What’s your favorite holiday tradition?

“The stockings are hung by the chimney with care.” You’ve clung to the roof while hanging the outdoor lights. The Christmas tree has been cut and decorated, and the presents have been bought and wrapped. Another holiday season has come around again. Whether the holiday you’re celebrating is Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukah or another, this is a special time of year for all. And, usually the most important part of this special season is the traditions that get celebrated and enjoyed from year to year. Yes, presents will be exchanged as usual, but as we’ve seen over this past year, times are tough for many. But, this isn’t something to be discouraged about. Even though the Christmas tree may not have as many presents tucked under it this year, usually it’s the traditions, not the gifts that people remember from year to year. Making memories with family and friends is what the holidays are all about. And, this year will especially help us to remember that. So, what is your favorite holiday tradition? Sure, presents are great, but it’s when my family all hold hands in a long chain and sings “Jingle Bells” while running through the house from room to room that makes me laugh harder than I have all year. No, I can’t tell you what I got for Christmas when I was 11 years old, but I can tell you “Jingle bells” was sung and laughter and fun was had by all that year. Sharing these special memories reminds us why the holidays are so special. Share your favorite holiday tradition and perhaps you will give an new idea to a reader and your special tradition may soon enter the home of another family this holiday season.
A Blessed and Happy Holiday to all!

We together with friends enjoy the week before Christmas singing lively traditional Christmas songs for about two hours before we gather at the home of one of the participants to socialize and set the plan for the following evening.

To make the morning last a long time and stretch the gift opening, our family enjoys a scavenger hunt around the house for some of the gifts. We make cards with clues on them and lead the person to different destinations until they find the gift. Usually up to four clues. The kids really enjoyed themselves. This makes the gift giving time last longer. Merry Christmas

I absoulty love to use these houseplans to play my sims 2 game with. Creating these houses has been so much fun. My families latest tradition is sitting in front of the computer with 4 different houseplans and creating new houses our simmies live in them. We live through our sims.

Family Traditions are cherished memories from my childhood. I have carried on many of them but one of my favorite was the bubble lights my father always put on our tree. As a child these were the most fun to watch and that liquid bubble was so fascinating. They are a little hard to find but in recent years seem to be coming back. I always put them on my tree and now my childen also love them.

We go to Mom and Dad’s house and then drive around on Christmas eve looking at all the lights. It is peaceful and beautiful.

Our favorite Holiday tradition is to travel to be with old friends and family. A once a year visit to recall our yesterdays and talk of future plans.

When my kids were born, I gave them one “special” ornament of their own. Now that they are on their own, they have them for their trees.
I have started the same tradition with my grand kids, so they will always have remembrances of me.

My favorite holiday tradition is waiting until Christmas morning to open presents. Although my kids are 20 & 22, they still anticipate “santa” filling their stockings with goodies and those are the first things they go for on Christmas morning! I also cherish the memories of Christmas’ past each year when I place some of my grandmother’s ornaments on our tree.

My favorite holiday tradition is for the whole family to gather at my grandmothers house. Presents are everywhere, and the tabletops are covered with all sorts of food and baked goodies. It is a great time to visit with family members that you don’t see too much throughout the year.

As my kids have gotten older some of the traditions have changed. One that has stayed true is that I let them open one gift on Christmas eve and leave the rest for Christmas day. They forget that one every year. Can you imagine the looks on their faces on Christmas Eve when I tell them they can open one gift.

In my house, it was always a treat to unwrap the nativity scene each year when we were getting out the Christmas decorations. Everyone wanted to be the person who got to unwrap the baby Jesus.

Handmade gifts are our family tradition. We draw names at Thanksgiving. The gift you create must be entirely handmade. Gifts range from food to art. This year’s amazing gift was a bicycle powered by an old chain saw — built by my nephew Blake for his little brother. I made a purse out of an old record album. My son created a series of ultra-cool bracelets for his brother – one was made from an old bicycle tire!

When I started having my children, I want them to understand why we were celebrating Christmas. Santa Claus is fun but I did not want him to be the center. So instead we have a birthday party before we open our gifts. We have a birthday cake, singing happy birthday to Jesus, and thanking God for such a wonderful gift in His son.

One of favorite family traditions is to all journey back home to my Mom and Dad’s on the ranch were we all grew up. For 2 to 3 glorious days we eat, drink, play a cards and games, build puzzles, and tell stories of the old days when we were young. It is so nice to still have that special place to go home to. We started with a family of 10, Mom Dad 7 boys and me. From there we have grown to a very large extended family. 16 Husbands and wives, 35 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. This year at Christmas we were blessed to hear the announcement of 2 more great grandchildren on the way. One is a third child for Shae and Oscar and the other will be the first for Heather and Ryan. We are all so truely blessed to have our health and happiness and a place that we will always have to call home no matter how far well travel. May all your holidays be Merry and Bright.

Pierogi day!!! One Saturday each December is reserved for making pierogi’s from scratch. We serve “refreshments” and form a assembly line to make these little filled dough delights. By the end of the day-we laughed, cried and just enjoyed being together.

My favorite holiday is thanksgiving days because I get to spend time with my family and my friends I loved the traditions involved, the old traditions and the new ones. For example; this year, my girlfriend and I are starting a new tradition of decorating our thanksgiving gifts and go shopping buy a turkeys and other stuff together. Each year we make eggnog together and attend the same Holiday parties. I like thanksgiving days because I enjoy GIVING gifts to people. I love wrapping presents in front of my fireplace, and watching the reactions of people opening gifts! It’s true, giving is better than receiving. That’s why Thanksgiving Day it’s the most excited and fun for a lot of people. For example I am likes thanksgiving a lot because when the Thanksgiving Day there are a lot of foods and the food its pretty good and I like to eat turkey other stuff that were on the Thanksgiving Day, gathering with the whole family and friends.
Another example Thanksgiving it’s a good holiday for family to get together as a families, a good sample my families came from other country for just Thanksgiving Day because they wanted to celebrate and see how everybody doing. “Like many of people that were working they don’t have to go to work take a day off and just relax get together for dinner”. When the thanksgiving holiday is coming my mom she loved to cooks for the whole family every years my mom her so happy that the season of the thanksgiving it almost come she getting ready to cook and to see the whole families together.
I think that thanksgiving is a great holiday for people to relax and take a day off from works just have fun with the family and enjoy turkey day it so much fun for me because getting together with my Mom, sisters, nieces, and my Dad to bake thanksgiving cookies. Everyone has their favorite, and we all come away with some yummy cookies to keep or share I am absolutely thankful to have a thanksgiving day!
Thanksgiving holiday it fun and keep your family closer and spent more time together; to give thanks and spend time with those you love
